About France 2003

In 2002 a project was initiated by fine art photographer Dejan Dizdar to search the Internet and bring together a group of international fine art nude photographers from across the world to produce a self funded book of fine art nude photography. Many photographers showed an interest in this idea but eventually there were too few who were willing to share in the vision and the expensive business of self publication.

However, from the group of contacts that were made during this time another idea emerged. This time it was to bring together a group of fine art nude photographers and models in one place, where we could practice and discuss our art and exchange ideas. The possibility of producing a book or publishing work from this on the Internet at a later date was also an optional goal. From this sprang the concept of

France 2003

France was chosen as the country of choice for two main reasons, equal accessiblity to all the photographers concerned and availability of accommodation and location that was suitable for the needs of about 20 photographers and models. In the end a wonderful old chateau in middle France was chosen for the project. Many photographers and models came into the project over the next few months, and many decided not to stay, but eventually a sufficient number were motivated enough to make the idea a reality.

So on the last day of May 2003 ten photographers and nine models from seven different countries (Canada, USA, UK, Germany, France, Israel and the Netherlands) converged on the chosen location and spent a wonderful week together making images and talking photography. It is amazing that we all got on so well!

This site just aims to show a selection of the images from one of the photographers (me - Mike Crawley) obtained during this week. Some of the other photographers and models have included images from this project on their own websites where they have them, so please do visit these sites to see their work. They can be accessed via the Photographers page and the Models page.
